Default Rack and Pinion problem

So I am leaking a pretty good amount of power steering fluid from my rack and pinion. On my Camero I had the same problem and I used dot 3 brake fluid and the leak stopped 5 months ago. Now my question is can I use brake fluid on my Prelude? I know that they are both hydraulic fluids, but I know that Honda has a specific power steering fluid that they want you to use. Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

i definately wouldnt. I had to replace the rack and pinion on my 4th gen prelude. When i went to go buy power steering fluid the autoparts store guy pretty much told me i had to use the honda power steering fluid. Not sure exactly y but he made it seem like it would mess something up

im pretty sure other fluid would destroy the seals in the rack. thats why you want to use honda fluid. u can buy a used rack off ebay for cheap or just convert to manual steering. good luck

OEM everything.
Fluids go with honda recomendations trust me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

Dealerships are stealerships, but there are differances in hydraulic fluids and thier expansion rates with heat (amongst a million other differences), so it would be safer to use the honda power steering fluid for sure. It maintains the life of all the componets in the steering system.
