Clutch help
HOw detailed a guide do you need? are you mechaniclly inclined and know what tools are what or?
Step1: Undo battery, remove battery tray and wires completly, put car into nuetral. Remove the fastener that holds the engine harness to the passenger side frame.
Step2: remove intake and groundig wires from transmission and engine.
Step3: Undo wires from starter, distributor, vss, and reverse light.
Step4: Undo Cltuch Slave cylinder(two bolts) form transmission, and remove the two ten mm bolts fastenign the hardclutch line down on the transmission. Lift and move the lines up and out of the way.
Step5: Remove the shift cables from the transmission, unbolt the three bolts holding the mounting bracket for the cables on the back of transmission.
Step6: Jack up the car and support it on all four lift pionts, be sure to get the car up as hgih as you safely can, this will make getting the trans out easier.
Step7: Drain the transmission of all its fluid, inspect fluid for damage and discard if needed.
Step8: Remove from wheel on both sides of the car.
Step9: Pop lower ball joint, and tie rod, do not remove the nuts just loosen them all the way for now.
Step 10: Loosen the axel nut form both sides of the car, leave the nut on but jsut loose for now.
Step11: Remove lower suspension fork bolt and nut compeltly.
Step 12: Remove axel nut, ball joint castle nut and tie rod castle nuts. Loosen all joints and remove axel from hub.
Step 13: Using small prybar, pop the passenegr axel out of the transmission, pull it out from the suspension fork, cover both splines with clean oil and a plastic bag. put aside.
Step 14: Go to drivers side and do the same thing, only this time iunstead of popping the axel out of the transmission, you are removign it form the halfshaft, oil the splines and cover with plastic bag and set aside.
Step 15: Remove the three bolts fastening the half shaft to the engine. Pull half shaft from transmission and cover splines in oil and plastic and set aside.
Step 16: This step is optional although i remove them each time... the passenger side radius rod and lower control arm need to be removed (or not, but if not you'll **** around for a long time).
Step 17: Loosen off the bolts that hold the transmission to the engine, with the exception of one bolt on the top and one bolt on the bottom.
Step 18: Attach engine hoist to engine only, tighten chain until its taught and you can loosen off the passenger motor mount. You can also Remove the Rear engine mount at this point, as well as the front mount. After getting he three mounts removed, remvoe the transmision mountin bracket from the top of the transmission.
Step 19: remove the remaing last two bolts holding the transmission to the engine.
Step 20: slowly lower the engine hoist slightly so that the transmission is kinda pointing down to the floor. You need this angulation to pull the trans off easy.
Step21: pull the trans off of the engine, and turn it counter clockwise and tip it back toward you at the same time to clear the rear subframe brace. The trans weight around 75 pounds or so, so if youre a small guy then you may need help, im 6'6" and wiegh around 240lbs, so for me its failry easy to pull it.
Step 22:Now the transmsision is out of the car you now have access to the clutch pressure plate, friction disc and flywheel. undo the 8 bolts holding the clutch on, but do so in a patter where you lossen one bolt slighty, then skip two bolts and loosen that one, thenskip two more bolts and losoen that one a bit and then skip two more and loosen that one, continue doing this until the pressure plate releases fromt he flywheel. Becarefula s the friction disc will fall also.
Step 23: Now you have the clutch removed, get a 12 poinbt socket in 14 and remove the flywheel. Remove these bolts in a star opposing pattern. These bolts are torque to yeaild so its good to have new ones. Remove the flywheel and inspect for damage, scoring or otherwise unfavorable markings.
Step 24: With new clutch and either new flywheel or machined flywheel, you are set to reinstall these items. Make sure you have clean gloves on your hands as you dont want grease on the friction surface or pressure plate. Then bolt on your flywheel int he same pattern you remvoed it and torue it to specification (i cant recall exaclly the trq amount, but its around). Once that is installed wash the friction surface of the flywheel with brake cleaner and dry with paper towel.
Step 25: Using the clutch alignment tool that came with your clutch kit, put the spline of the friction disc on to the alignment tool and place that into teh flywheel. Make sure its strigtht and aligned correctly. Install the clutch pressure plate over the friction disc and bolt down in the same manner of which you removed it and torque to specification.
Step 26: Clean your bell housing of the transmission and dry with comrpessed air well. Grease the shift lever ball and make sure the spring installed along with the OEM throw out bearing.
Step 27 Reinstall the transmission, when you do this you wuill have to tip it back toward you and in towards the rear of the car, you will have to kind of move it around so the gear selectors do not catch the rear subframe. Once you have the transmission in make sure the dowel pins are clean and lined up correctly then mate teh trans to the engine. Put two bolts in right away to hold it in place.
Step 28: Raise engine hoist so that you have the engine level and correctly in the bay again and bolt up the motor mounts and tranmission mounts.
Step 29: Start reinstalling everythign in the same but opposite order you removed it.
Step 30: BREAK IN YOUR CLUTCH CORRECTLY!!!!!
Now i might have missed some small steps as im wirting this while im at work 1000km away form my garage and prelude and whatnot, but im certain i covered the major parts; this is just a basic instruction off the top of my head to give you hand so dont get bent out of shape if i did miss a couple small things. And anything others want to add feel free.

hahahahaha, yes sometimes its good to help people along......... he said he wanted a write up right?? well now instead of searching for one he has to read a long *** post (that may or may not be accurate lol...joking, its as accurate as i could make it) and then print that **** out and then constantly refer to it while doing the work.
