build my blown motor or buy a JDM h22?
I overboosted my usdm h22a and fried some pistons and was planning on building it but i am not sure if i should build the one i have or buy a JDM one and build it. i know they are only 10 hp more but i heard they are a better motor overall. is this true? any one have suggestions on exactly what i should do to build it. I want to boost 12psi safely and maybe spray direct port nitrouse eventually.

The blocks are basically the same, however the internals are different. If you are going to replace the internals then buying a JDM block would be a total waste of money.
Keep your h22a, sleeve it, buy new pistons, rods, ems, bla bla bla and boost 12psi all day long.

You are the guy with 423 whp right? I was wondering how that was going? Do you have any suggestions or advice for building an h22? Keep in mind this is my daily driver. I am prolly doing it myself with friends help so I will need all the advice I can get. Thanks.

Yea. It is fine, no problems as of yet. I am going to change the set-up in a few weeks however. I do not use the car for commutes to and from school anymore though. As far as having a 400whp daily driver, it is possible but it's always good to have a car to fall back on. Always expect the unexpected.

It makes plenty of sense cause I need a car to drive every day and I have no time to have no car. Plus my motor is fucked up beyond belief and I would have to do more than rebuild it to get it running properly. It gets me where I need to go.. just smokes a lot. And if I were to put the perfectly good motor in it I would have to pay labor twice on installing it. why would i do that if I can get a perfectly good motor for cheap and take my time on building it?

I droped a valve in my R at 9400 rpm(crazy cams and computer at the time) and I rebuilt it. Put in some crazy thick cylinder sleeves maybe have them bored a little over and some nice custom pistons to fit and provide the compression you want, I went with rollerwave Endyne, and presto your motor is better than ever. While you have it apart get your head port and polished, head flow is huge!

Re: build my blown motor or buy a JDM h22? (ASR)
It is going to take me too long to save money to build my motor so I think i am going to get this cheap h22 I found. I have all the propper fuel elements including fpr, fuel rail, walbro fp, injectors, all i need is a boost controller and i think this new motor will be aight. My mistake before was running too lean. that caused it to blow. But the H22 is a tough motor and can take the new t3/t4 turbo I have to put on it. Lets cross our fingers.

damn Charla Murpphaayyyyy mobile!!! Your ride is SIIICCKK!!!! It's a celebration bitches!!!
h22turbolude...saw your page on cardomain...thats a tasty ride...just wanted to leave a little compliment...
IMO i think you should keep the H22 rather than getting the JDM...the JDM as you said only boosts you so much more...As long as your block is straight, order the JDM internals and replace them with those...Less work, less expensive...

[/QThanks for the compliments. the jdm is higher compression so I need to get aftermarket forged pistons.

Re: build my blown motor or buy a JDM h22? (h22-cx-guy)
Well rebuilding prices varies a lot depending on which brands you want. I want the BEST so it was around $780 just on pistons rods and rings. you need a gasket kit and you may need to sleeve too.. the sleeves by themselves are around $800. so around $2000 to rebuild with lower compression. JDM motor is $1500, but if you want lower compression you will HAVE to rebuild that one any way so I am opting to go with rebuilding my motor.

keep in mind that you can't run forged pistons in a non sleeved h22 block cause of the lining...I forget what it is called, anyone else know???

Re: build my blown motor or buy a JDM h22? (h22turbolude)
im gonna go all motor, but i was thinking to get 11.5 cr pistons and stuff like that. but for that price id stick to getting some type S pistons so i dont have to resleeeve and it'll be cheaper.
