bad compression
did a comp check cause I want to spray. Car has close top 100000 miles on it and #1 cylinder is about 20 psi lower than the rest. Just wondering if changing the head gasket would help the compression out at all. Also would the valves needing adjusting have something to do with it. Just wondering because i hope I dont have to changed the rings. Thanx
Valdosta. My dad is a dept head at VSU there.
Anyway... a head gasket is most likely not your problem. Rings are where I'd start.
The best thing to do is have a shop run a leakdown test. The air will go somewhere. Usually under 10-8% leakage is acceptable. Listen for where the air goes and hisses. If it comes out the exhaust, it's an exhaust valve. If it's out the intake, then it's an intake valve. If it comes out the crank case breather tube, then it's your rings.
Or you could run a wet compression test. This involves tossing a few capfuls of oil in the cylinder that is low. If the numbers increase, then it's more than likely your rings.

Thanks I will do a wet comp test and if no difference I'll do a leak check at some place thanks man. Oh and Valdosta sucks...Hardly any luders
Valdosta isn't that bad. The few times I've been there though I've seen some retarded ricers. Then again, their everywhere.
You should try Birmgingham. It's hard to tell what's fast and what isn't. Some of the gheyest cars might whoop your ***.
Now, Troy? Where I AM right now? Dear Lord. Farm Truck nationals. I gotta get outta this place.
