3rd gear problems

I was just wondering why sometimes I cannot seem to get my shifter into third gear, I know the clutch is all the way down, so is this a common problem and/or something that can be easily fixed?

did it grind prior to not going in?? Does it grind now when you try to put it in 3rdgear?
