Searched with no luck. B16 dies during cold idle.
I've searched "idle" and 4 pages came up. However none of the threads seems to be describing what my problem is.
Let me start with these points:
-new battery
-cleaned out IACV with brake cleaner and varsol (clean as a whistle now)
-screwed in the FITV fully
-no vacuum leaks
-no fluctuating idle
-new distributer
-new spark plugs
-no codes
So here is the problem:
- I start my motor, it starts with a little more cranking than usual (cold weather).
- After about 5-10 seconds, the RPM slowly drops until the motor cuts out.
- I start it again, and it does the same thing
- So this time as soon as I started the motor, I tried giving it some gas, but as soon as I touched my gas pedal.... the motor died.
This is a cold idle, so I checked the engine oil and it's fine.
I took off the FITV again to check if I need to screw it in again, but it was still fine. I can't seem to figure out what the problem is. TPS maybe? How would I be able to "check" it?
Please help!

You need a new coolant temp sensor.....a TW sensor....check to see if you're throwing a code 6....I was throwing that and i fixed it and now the motor start right up no dying....good luck

check out the TPS. as far as checking it, unless you bring it somewhere or have like a helms manual, you just have to play around with it. just move it little by little.

i had no problem starting my car with the coolant temp sensor unplugged.
Seems like a fuel problem to me.

Fuel problem indeed.
Well, I just found out that my fuel gauge is faulty. Since my fuel gauge was just above the red mark, I didn't think that I was out of fuel. I added in some fuel and she started right up. on me.
However, the motor still does this:
- at intial cold start, the idle is at 700 RPM (really low IMO for a cold motor)
- If I try to give it some gas, the motor would cut out
- If I leave it for 5 mins, the RPM slowly rises to 1500.
- Then I am able to drive.
- Also, at warm/hot idle, you can hear "sputtering" from the exhaust. (it doesnt sound too healthy)
Anyone know what that problem might be?
Thanks

check your fuel pressure. also your fuel pump. run a couple test. I know an OEM Honda pump runs a lower PSi rating compared with an Integra fuel pump. Most people I know, sometimes have this problem. I had a friend with an EG w/ a B16 and he solved his problem with an aftermarket fuel pump.
