Icon6 Removal of A/C components! Help!

Hi fellow jdm heads

I recently picked up a 91' Si hatch!
I had a few questions regarding the removal of A/C components under the dash, i removed all the lines from the engine bay already but want to get rid of the extra lbs under the dash! .. I just don't know where to start or what to unplug!

Any help will be appreciated!
Ive looked around and cant find any topics with pictures and i am kinda afraid to just pull stuff out

First disconnect your battery. Then take the gauge cluster cover off and the gauge cluster. Take out the middle console where the a/c controls are at and stero. Then remove the dash.

sounds like alot of work? All i did was take the glove box off and then took off the bracket that holds the black box up there the black box has your evaporator in it...

are you wanting to keep your heater core? Or are you removing everything under the dash?

Here is the best I can take, from right to left.

@turbohatchBnuts - Yeah I still want to keep my heater, I just want to remove anything to do with a/c.

@eundaddy - I never used my a/c on any of my past cars so yeah.. I can do without it

You can approach this a couple ways.
After you remove all the A/C components the blower motor will not be connected to the dash vent ducting.

-Stock heater only cars have a vent duct that runs from the blower motor to the dash ducting. (I happen to have one for sale). It's just a formed plastic tube that weighs next to nothing.
-You can also gut the heavy A/C coil from the condensor box after you remove it from the car, seal up all the holes, and reinstall it empty.

@4drEF Ah does not sound too hard, I will give it a shot today.
How much do you want for that tube thing?

I am guessing the condenser box will be the first in line from right to left?

That would be your blower motor and heater core. when you get the evaporator down and the box out. If you turn just the air on then you will feel air come out of there. And then if you turn the heat on you will feel hot air come out. You shouldnt have to take any screws or bolts out of this to get the evaporator out.

cool thanks.

By any chance, do you happen to be daily driving this car???
Because if you plan on it, i would suggest not taking the things under the dash out.
Cuz when it comes back around to winter, your gonna really wish you had the windsheild defroster blowing.

Post Re: Removal of A/C components! Help!

I managed to take out the Condenser & it looks like its been opened before. I don't think i will be able to gut it so i want to get a hold of that tube thing for the stock heater only. I believe that's all from the a/c under the dash right?

I will be posting pics of the engine bay stuff as well of the condenser box soon.

Thank you for the much needed help!

It just looks like its been severely supper glued like a million times or some kind of hard melted plastic was used to weld it back together and I am afraid of breaking it.. I believe it still works too I just did not want to refill it since i was planing of taking out the a/c. I might just sell it or trade it for something.

Ill have some pics up soon
