Default Question! click when pressed on clutch?

hi i have a 90 civic si and i have a problem ...whenever i start the car from 1st to 2nd gear and i press the clutch to change into 2nd gear there would be this "click" sound ...that sound like when you're doing a turn...it's not loud but it's hearable ...it also happens sometimes with the 2nd to 3rd gear ...i was just wondering if there is soemthign wrong with my tranny? do i need new fluid?

if it happens just from pushing the clutch then its either clutch cable-not likely or the clutch assembly. take your tranny off and check the clutch setup if it gets worse. is your clutch slipping?

ide put money that he's got a sloopy spring in the disk... but you'll never know untill you get into it.. you could guess, and try and hear all day long, its not going to fix itself, and you'll never know untill you look at it.

i have that click too, but i dont think its the actual clutch. Mine sounds like its somewhere around the pedal, i can feel it when it clicks through the pedal too...oh well

Whats long run persay? im just saying, you let it persist, and its gunna break.. or just spin on you.. save your self a break down, and get a new clutch.

Something similar happened to me last week. The click sounded like it was coming from the clutch pedal. Turned out my clutch cable was all frayed. Replacement cable from Honda- $45.

45 for the cable.. its really easy to change, thats if you could fit under the dash, and have little arms, and pacience..

and changing your MTF won't help.. its the clutch, the clutch is dry.. one day, one day it will break, and you'll be stuck somewhere..

Since you said that it doesn't happen while idling and I take it it doesnt happen while sitting still so I would say that it could be a syncro in the tranny you did say that it happens when you SHIFT PARTICUALLY 1st to sendcond and so on I dunno it could be clutch or clutch cable but no way to know for sure unless you do what everyone else says and get your hands dirty and take a look

What do you shift at? Same RPM each gear or like 4000-3500-3200-3200

Also, check mounts and alternator belt, sounds crazy but a noise like this can be just about anything

alright, still check odd stuff like that, it might sound wierd now but I had an alternator belt that made the strangest noise before I figured out what it was

hard entry to 1st gear could be 2 things.. bad syncro.. and low tranny fluid.. however.. if your clutch is acting up, and not funtioning right, that would cause alot of problems too.. trust me, your going to have to get into it to find it out.

1, get the tranny off, and check out your clutch.. if the clutch turns out ok.. might want to replace it anyways.. or stick it back in, but then think about getting a trany, or doing tranny work.. to me.. ide rather get another low mile. tranny.. tranny work starts in the hundreds.. but you'll never know untill you get into it.

Again, that is the exact same thing that was happening to me. It was almost impossible to put it into 1st.. a little easer to go in to secaond... a little easier still to go into 3rd etc. Just check your clutch cable. If you don't know how or where it is, just take your car to a local shop, be really nice and ask if they could please check the condition of your clutch cable.

If it does turn out to be the cable, then that won't be necessary.
