The big question is, is the car converted to OBD1? If so, you will need a 92-95 EX/Si ECU which the code for it is P28 or you have the option of going to one of the vendors on here (phearable.net) is one I used for all my ECU needs.
You can get a chipped ECU from them and let them know what you are running, this would be if you plan on modifying the car (turbo/Supercharger) and need it tuned in the future.

Re: d16 z6 idle
well the car is only running o2 sensor so i think ir has been converted and the intake is a multi point so my guess is that it is converted how do i confirm it ? we got the car swapped already and had to go back and fix a lot of stuff and now its the idle thats messed up

Clear round plugs on the right are OBD0 and Grey plugs on the left are OBD-1. These are the distributor plugs.
As far as the idle, is your check engine light on?
What's the code on the side of the ECU that you currently have plugged in?
^it will look something like this.

Re: d16 z6 idle
yeah the only cel its throwing is for the knock sensor but the d16z6 doesnt have one the ecu i belive is actually for a b16 i know i know thats all effed but out of all the ecu's we have tried thats the one that makes the car drivable. the ecu looks for the knock sensor and then throws the cel cuz it erroes because the engine doesnt come with a knock sensor
i look at the plus today after work and ill star from there making sure everything matches as far as what obd's they are
* thanks (dephtone) i appreciate the help

Have you tried cleaning your Idle air control valve? IACV won't always throw a code right off the bat, sometimes it takes the ECU a while to pick it up.

I would not recommend driving on the non proper ECU or it may cause you some issues later on, especially if they are driving it hard as the fuel tables and timing tables may be different.
If the ECU code reads pr3, then you have a OBD0 ECU, thats if it's an actual b16 ECU or if the car is OBD1 it will be a P30.

For what it's worth, I'd recommend that you buy the OBD0-OBD1 ECU and distributor jumper harness. This will allow you to purchase a chipped P28, as stated before, and also be able to hook up VTEC as the harnesses come with this pre-wired in a sub harness. As well as a 4 wire O2 sensor.
The chipped P28 will also allow you to tune the car if you decide to go down the road of forced induction later on.
