but is changing a blown head gasket and oil rings gone an easy cheap fix?
what does he mean when he says oil control rings gone?
is that a hard fix?

I don't include headgaskets in the category of "easy fix." If you have the know how to rebuild or replace the engine, then I guess I would say go for it. Otherwise, find one that runs.
