Are you staying OBD0? OBD0 mpfi dizziez = TD02U (D16A6 engine = crx si,civic si,civic sedan ex) or TD18u (D15b6 engine from crx hf ) (have to notch/modify mounting legz for z6,for y8 they bolt right up 2 teh y8 head).Your dizzy,inj'z,and ecu HAVE to match OBD version.If you meant TD41u = d16z6 vtec, = OBD1 vtec (and you would need OBD1 ECU + Inj'z) Of course all of this is covered in FAQ stickied @ top of forum...

k,I'd suggest going over your dizzy wiring again + again (where most dpfi - mpfi swapz run into problems)

correct me if im wrong.
wiring up the dizzy
do i need 4 crank sensors hooked up or 2?

c1&c2 splice together with b10&b12 after hooking them together i run blue green and blue yellow from the dizzy over to b10&c1 and the other wire over to b12 & c2? which in the end all three wires are connected together? is that right?

IIRC,that'd be a big wrong.(and solder+heatshrink all connectionz)

is from http://www.angelfire.com/d20/hcivic88/dx-siwiring.html for OBD0 mpfi swap,for OBD0 --->OBD1 wiring info: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/d-i-y-faq-obd-0-obd-1-pinouts-conversion-help-1319235/

Don't quit on it.

Let's leave your wiring issue out of it..

The condition of the motor, any history on it?? Honestly, it sounds like maybe you have some severely bent valves which can create serious starting issues as well as back firing during starting (It'll sound like a series of small pops, occasionally giving you one HUGE one from time to time, can be heard out the exhaust and even in the intake mani...)

No sealing of the valves = No compression = NOTHING, even with the presence of fuel and air and a spark. Honestly i'd yank the valve cover off and take a gander, it's worth the shot at this point.

If it is backfiring most likely it is a timing issue...
