Anyone done a D15B swap?
I heard about this D15B motor, with triple stage VTEC and 130 HP out of a 1.5 liter SOHC. This sounds like a cheap and interesting mod for my CRX. Has anyone done this swap, and know of anything about it? I am guessing that the motor is a complete bolt in because it's a D15, but I would need a VTEC controller and some other stuff. Please help.

Re: Anyone done a D15B swap? (TDRacing)
I'm interested myself here's a site that I found:
http://www.geocities.com/gkurka2001/VTEC15/VTEC.htm
what I'd like to know is what importers are stocking it? the 2 that I have checked with (hondamotorsonline and I can't remember the other guy i contacted) both said they don't deal with these motors.
and I see no reason why it wouldn't be a direct bolt in with a couple of extra wires for the vtec and possibly an obd1 convert to run with it's ecu. about the same dificulty as a d16z6.

That's the only site that I have found also. I would think that these engines are considerably cheap, because they are not top of the line engines, and have been used in the Honda lineup for so long.

personally....im loving the 3 stage VTEC. I want one of these engines so that people around here can look into b=my bay and see d15 and think "this guy doesnt even have VTEC....easy kill". NOT!!! The only thing that im worried about is the fact that the "wild" vtec is only activated for about 1200 rpm's....thats not alot. But i still want it Tell me if anybody finds a place that sells them. I wish that the one on ebay wasnt an auto...even though its not the 3 stage its still nice. Is it possible to put a 5spd tranny from a z6 on it and use the z6 ecu? Thanks alot guys.

The problem with using the vtec controller is that if you look closely youll see two vtec solenoids. I wonder if you could use a Zdyne or stock z6 ecu for the first vtec solenoid then use a aftermarket vtec controller for the second one. Do you guys think that its possible to do it like this? youd probably have to chip the ecu b/c the vtec kicks in at 3k instead of 5.5k? I asked a guy that knows ALOT about hondas and he said that he saw one of these engines with a few mods in an eg and it was pulling on heavily modded b16 eg's all day at the local straight line...and i even pulled on a turboed b16 ek(mild boost). D@MN I WANT ONE OF THESE THINGS!!!
