VTEC in wagon
I got a 1990 civic 4dr wagon and i want to put a 1994 sohc VTEC motor from a civic Ex in my wagon. I searched but i couldnt find all the info i wanted. So far i know that i can use my wagons tranny and my wagons dpfi and it would bolt right on. if the mpfi conversion would have been a little easier i would have done it. From what i understand its just bolt on and the wiring. whats all the wiring i got to do to put that motor in my wagon. Do i need the ecu from the VTEC motor or can i use mine. i need all the help i can get because this is my first swap.

look up the faq at the top of this forum. it has a couple of good links that show you how. it'll really allow your vtec motor to run alot stronger. which motor do you have?

i think it's the z6 but i might be mistaken. anyways. the wiring you'll have to do will be to wire an rpm activated switch to run the vtec. you'll also have to modify your dist. legs to mate up with the vtec head. doing it this way will really limit the motors capabilities. all this is with the a6 ecu and dist.. i'm not even sure if the 1.5 stuff will work. i'd set your sights on the mpfi swap first. for me it seemed more difficult wiring wise than the motor swap. there is also much to be said for the performance gains from the mpfi swap alone.

Re: VTEC in wagon (mr. carpenter)
i was reading the link you gave me but iam cofused about one partwere it says that i need the si wiring harness and then at the bottom it says "It is much easier to use your existing DPFI harness and just add the extra 4 wires that will be needed. The Si harness will be much harder to use." what does it mean?

you have to add four extra wires or you can replace your entire wire loom with the si loom. hence it's easier to just add the four wires. you run them from the ecu to the engine bay. twoo go to the two new injectors and i think the other two go to the dist.?
