It's acutally a more clever design as far as fitment is concerned if A/C or PS are not being utilized. It allows for a larger full-size radiator to be used. Some other equal-length headers will interfere with the raditaor due to the way the runners protrude forward from the head. I suppose it could interfere with the radius arms on 88-91 Honda applications, but I know alot of users run aftermarket traction bars to avoid this.

don't forget that awesome ground clearance that you don't get from the majority of the 4-1 headers

Okay. I run a traction bar, much like the picture, and it looked like it could be close. I had not thought of the full-size radiator thing though. Very good call. Makes a little more sense now.

This is probably the main selling point for this header. That is something I hadn't thought of either.

I'm stuck in turbo mode. I haven't factored in full size radiators and there is only one pipe going under my car. Plus my car is still at stock ride height and I have no plans of lowering it unless I can get a front bumper that sits higher.

You guys were busy last night! haha! Started on the assembly last night and a little this morning, my builder is going to finish the bottom end this afternoon. Hopefully put the head and all the accessories on tonight. Maybe get it in the car next week!!

have you talked in detail with the engine builder as to what he will be targeting your p2w, ring gapping & bearing clearences too?

or is this going to be more of a OEM spec type rebuild on the block?

We are building it looser than oem spec. I dont have the exact numbers in front of me, but everything will be a bit looser than oem spec. I want to say .0020-.0023 on the rods.

Cleaned the pistons up. Came out pretty nice!

Laying everything out and taking measurements.

Threads chased, block cleaned, oil squirters installed.

If all goes well, will hopefully have the motor in the car by the end of the week.

Also picked up a NGK AFX wideband from IPG Parts to monitor the AFR during break-in and on the track.

YES! It's good to see some updates. Motor's looking good! Bet you're a little antsy to sit in that driver's seat by now.

How do you like it? I heard the sensor is one of the best around(for the money), but the readout was slacking a little. Mostly just that the readout is a little slow compared to what the sensor is sending. It didnt bother me too much since Im only using it as a safety precaution and not for tuning. I just wanted to have a general idea of how the car is running thats easy to read when Im on the track.

Oh for sure man! Its been sitting in the garage in the same spot for over 6 months now. I was ready the day I put it in my garage. Hopefully things will start going back together this week and maybe be on the road the following week!

it worked out fine for 2yrs... but then again i only have about 3k of use about 2K of road racing or drag racing (on e85).

This pas august it the sensor finally went out on on me on the drive back home from a weekend of racing. My guess is that it just got clogged and dirty.

I've tried to re-calibrate it but it didn't work. It has a weir error code which isn't in the manual. I'm not too worried about it. My other buddy has the same wideband. He's NA on 92oct and daily drives his EF and has about 12k on it with zero issus so far he bough it 1yr after i did.

For the record (IMHO)
IMHO wide band isn't really needed. It' nice (feels good) to glance at it every now and then but the reason why people buy it is to (A) tuning or (B) monitor AFR during a WOT pull.

(A) I don't tune.
(B) And if I did a WOT, i would be looking at other things (like what's in front me, sometimes oil pressure gauge) vs. wideband. If you see it go lean on WOT it's almost too late (imho). In some corners of the road course, I am able to glance at oil temp but that's about it. On the straights WOT i'm mainly looking at oil pressure, rpm & mph.

The only it can help prevent engine damage is if your doing a partial 50-70% pull and you have time to look at wideband constantly and let off if need be. I'm not that good of a driver to multi task. So I honestly don't reccomend a wideband as a "must gauge" for most customers.

gauges in order of importance (imho) by no means am i right:

NA
- oil pressure
- oil temp

FI
- boost
- oil pressure
- oil temp
- water temp or fuel pressure (may add these in the future)

i know i'll be wot a lot at the track. my last event i took it easy b/c i had nothing hooked up. wiring my wideband to flash the cel when it goes lean. turnerview will also flash when it goes outside of the preset parameters. i never had a wideband and didn't need one, but thought better safe than sorry now that i finished my car.

i did come across this though

I mostly bought mine to make sure the AFR is decent during initial start-up and break-in. I know its mostly a "nice-to-have" gauge. I will certainly be installing oil temp and oil pressure before I do any serious driving.

(Any decent tuner is a good 2 hours away from where I live)
