Anyway with the seats you currently have in your car, the carpet will fit so.. I can't wait to see how clean it will look :D

Dang! You have an eye for detail. I didn't even come close to catching that. Good work.

Glad it is working out though. I had a mini panic attack when he brought up altering the carpet to get seats to fit.

Haha, yeah if it doesnt fit Ill just sell it, not going to cut a hole in it. I can always find the right carpet, heck I can buy it brand new if I want! just couldnt pass up paying only $40 for oem carpet.

I planned to prep and paint the block, but after cleaning the block, I think i have decided I am just going to leave it bare aluminum. Not perfect, but certainly not bad. The car is being built more for function than to look pretty, so Im not stressing too much over it looking entirely perfect. Although I still like it to look nice! :D

Before.

After.

Another shot of the cylinder cross hatching.

I do like the look of a black block in a black engine bay, it sort of melts away and looks smooth to me. But other than that, I haven't seen a whole lot of painted blocks that I like. I actually hate the old red chevy blocks. I think they look terrible. Just an example.

i was going to paint it in "cast coat aluminum". It is supposed to look like brand new cast aluminum.

Hmm. Probably look really good. Why not? I like gunmetal as far as OEM looking paint. I know it is obviously different, but I think it looks good.

My painted block turned out nicely. Paint wasn't "reflective" to light too which is what i was worried about cause i wanted a flat texture.

Q: how does the mains get out of round?

Which paint did you use? Can you post a picture of yours done?

They were still within spec, but on the large end of spec and a little egg shaped. I am not sure how this happens exactly. We decided to go with the align hone which made them all exactly the same spec.

I laughed when I saw your car on your computer screen. At least I think it's yours, right? I don't even know why, just make me chuckle. Honda OEM oil pumps cost a pretty penny, don't they?

Haha, thought someone might get a kick out of that. I just didnt want to have my screens up from work, so I put up my build thread. :D

Pump was about $120. Worth it for OEM quality though. I already have a brand new OEM water pump as well.

Yeah, mine wasnt off anything like how they get during sleeving. We just wanted to make them all the same so we could get the bearing clearance we wanted. Actually took very little off.

Thanks for the heads up on the orings, Ill grab those when I pick up the gaskets sets next week.

often times people forget to replace the old crusty orings. they are $1-2 each and so worth getting it to ensure proper oil pressure and seal.

sub to thread. lol

Picked up a optional lower console for the civic the other night on ebay. Got the winning bid with literally 1 second left!

Always wanted the lower console. But some of them on ebay just sky rocket in price. Great pick up though whey complete the interior well.
