Default '88 Sedan only starts when I turn the key fast... why?

Kinda a different starting problem than your garden variety relay or solenoid. Like the subject says... if I turn the key quickly from off to start it starts almost every time. If I turn it slow to run the idiot lights come on and I can hear the fuel pump running, but continuing to turn to start does nothing. No starter click. Idiot lights stay on, mocking me.

I don't have my service manual with me to start hunting things down, but my first bet is the ignition switch itself. Any other ideas?

ur correct, its ur ign switch, it probally going out. this could be because u might have a lot of keys on ur ign. key, that could cause it to wear out

Definately the ignition switch. If I push the key in while turning to start then it starts most of the time. Is the electrical switch integral to the keyed cylinder? What do I need to get at the wrecker yard?

um....the ignition switch from the back, but i would just check with your local honda dealership and see how much it is.
if they arent that much i would suggest that u buy a new one.
honda had a recall on their ignition switch.
im not sure if your year was in the recall tho.
and replacing it is not hard at all. just take ur steering colum cover off and take the two screws that hold it in place and follow the wire to the fuse box and take it out and reverse process to install.
hope this helps.
