ME - why would anybody want to remove 5th gear?
My girlfriend - "Maybe he wants to make more room for 4th gear?"
ME -

The class I want to race in requires a 4 spd.. However, I don't think I'll be able to find a factory 4 spd. for this car so I'm trying to think of any possible alternatives to get through tech. You guys are probably all too young to know that years ago we would in fact machine off 1st. gear to reduce rotating mass in Chevy 4 spds. for oval track racing. Old "technology". Thanks.

I have an 87 crx to and I dont think you can do that. I mean you could but you might need to think about a different gear ratio.
