i work at a honda dealership and one of the customers cars came in need of repair. the mechanics took the head off and boom. theres a hole in the number 4 piston. the other pistons are BLACK. i'm thinking, hmmmm..... detonation, guy is running lean(because i see an adjustable fuel regulator on and thought maybe he was an idiot and he wanted to save gas by lowering the fuel pressure ) and he must have detonated because it was running lean. but later, i see they are talking to the owner. well, it seems like the guy put the fuel pressure UP. as in, it was running up to 80psi!!!! we were totally busting his chops on how rich he was running his car. and that the mods he had on his car wouldn't even need half of that pressure. and he's like "oh, maybe i should've gotten the COLD AIR intake" all we did was laugh our asses off. anyway, i talked to one of the service guys and they said that i could buy it by paying the core charge which is 300 canadian dollars. what do you guys think? should i buy it or not? oh yeah, if you guys didn't know, i have an 88 crx dx.

Hell no, you can get a running one for that price, for another 200 bucks you could get a tranny with it too. Or you could get a sohc or dohc zc for around 500bucks.

Yeah save up a couple extra hundred and buy something that isnt screwed, it'll only be a pain in the *** trying to fix it.

i`d like to know where you can get one for cheaper in canada i`m looking at a zc with tranny for $1800 to my door you can look in junky`s but that all they have is junk or want big $$$$and shipping from the us to canada ya right! like i want that pain inthe a$$. and to think are dollor is like 60 cent in us .

ok i did a little more looking and i found one in van for $1000 with no tanny and $1300 with trannyi also found a b16a1 with tranny and mounts for $2695 i live in bc so shipping for across canada will cost aleast $500 so iwant to find one in bc.. the b16 would be sweeeeet but this is the wife`s car i drive it more then my truck but she has to drive it too!and then there`s the money thing.......oh honey your car is a little slow...i need $4500.. to put a 160hp motor in it so i can race it every now and again.......wife say`s ...wtf...are you on glue?...lol...so i think i`ll go with the zc..

..dont bother getting the tranny that'w w/ the sohc vtec b/c its not gonna bolt into your car, you're gonna need to use a 88-91 tranny.

well, i'm planning to do a rebuild on it. ie. new pistons(d16a6 or possibly even d16a1), rings, deck block and head, new head gasket, rod bearings, hone and bore out the cylinders a little bit and basically blueprint the bottom end. i want a good platform to start with instead of the d15b2. thats why i want to buy it. oh yeah, what ecu should i use? d16a6 or d16a1 ecu with external vtec controller or use the z6 ecu and have a wiring nightmare? sorry for so many questions. but you guys seem to the be the best place to get answers.

Just look around, I got my ZC engine, ZC tranny, TEG ECU, axles all that poo poo for $600 canadian...

Man, you are on crack, haha, you can do a little research, go to the websites that I posted, look around, and find places in vancouver area that deal with motors, you can get a way better deal than you are talking about. You can get motors just as cheap, if not cheaper than we can over here.

crack.. well the one i posted for 1300 with tranny is in van!!!!!!and asfor your other post LIKE I SAID IT COST ME AT LEAST 5BONE TO SHIP so if i find 1 for $500 and i ship it herefor $500......well you do the math big savings their...and to have one shipped across canada ..it` gets here an it`s a peace of poo poo who do you think pay`s for all the shipping!!! their are only a few poeple that have zc`s in bc and some i don`t think i`d trust `em as far as i could chuck `em thanx for your help but maybe stop and think.. before you start with the crack crap..as fore research i`ve been looking for and a very zc swap and place to buy for about 4 weeks..
