My little brother has a 1995 Civic Sedan with a d16z6. Anyways, for the last yr his TPS has been screwed up and he's just delt with it. Well he got a throttle body off of Ebay with a TPS in it that was good. He put a new gasket on, bolt it up, plugged the TPS in, used the MAP from his car and now it runs worse then it did before that. Driving with the bad one unplugged it ran normal other then it would idle up and down.. now it runs horribly. He filled his tank up, has gone 40 miles and almost burned half a tank.

Any idea's what could be the problem.

CEL is NOT on anymore since he plugged the new TPS in.

holy **** ,12 gallons of fuel for 80 miles of use ? thats worse than lamborghini.
does engine have idel problem? car runs and idel normal? ..when u said it runs worse..how worse? and whats worse?

When you first start it, it idles up and down and acts like it wants to die, but doesnt.. you goto take off, again stumbling some, but after acouple seconds, it runs fine and idles fine at short stops, but if you sit and wait on say a train or stick it back into park, it idles erractically and sounds somewhat like a miss.. a miss that wasnt there before hand.

it sounds like a bad map, check to make sure that you don't have the map and tps plug-ins switched around, cuz they do have the same plug-in.

How do you check if the map and tps plug is switched? I though it will throw a map and tps code if you plug it in wrong?

map sensor has the green wire in the middle

just switch the 2 plugs and try it. it wont hurt anything. also if it aint that it may be the iacv valve.idle air control

i made the mistake of switching the two plugs. it just throws a CEL

Timing cant be off.. the car ran just fine minus the up and down idle, it ran fine.

I told him to switch the map and TPS plugs, but it isnt throwing a CEL.. will still switch em and see.

As for the bad MAP, the MAP was fine before the TB swap. Almost positive it wouldnt go like that. Hard to say, the car does have 226K on it.

Im having the same problem as we speak, have gone around 40~ miles and have used half a tank, it will hardly even idle without dying. I had a CEL and it was four a host of things, including tps (which should be good because it was before i rebuilt) fuel supply system, system too rich/lean, and fuel supply system. I found a vacuum leak on the hose the goes to the fpr on right-hand side of the fuel rail. So taped it it up (for times sake) it got somewhat better but its still horrible.
*edit*, the idles really sucks, while driving it jerks around some. And is really really slow/weak, i've rebuilt using vitara pistons which should put the c/r around 8:5:1, but im losing aroun 15mph on some hills, so i dont know.
