y8 question (how mauch powa?)
just out of curiosity- i have been putting together a y7 96 dx hatch for a couple years with parts off of craig's list: koni yellows, st sways, eibach pro line springs, 99-00 si brake set up, stainless brake lines, ate super blue b fluid, hawk pads in the front and a 96-00 ex header and exhaust. i put a99-00 si airbox in with a hacked volvo 850 cold air intake out to the front of the car as well. the car is lots of fun and gets 35+ mpg.
my next step is the old mini me project. I am going to bump the compression to 10.5, put in a cower stage one cam, get a 3 angle valve job, use the ex intake mani, with a port match remove blemish head/intake work. i am going to throw a hondata insulating gasket on as well. with stock y8 ecu, injectors and throttle body, what h.p. will i get? i am hoping for 130-140 at the crank. am i a crackhead?

I dont know about 140
With a cam, port/polish and different intake manifold, are you planning to get any type of tune? Stock y8 ecu may not be the best choice for getting the maxium power. Id reccomend something like a chipped p28 for the best results.

I was hoping to use the stock ecu. I was under the impression that i would need to do the ob1 conversion or move to a ecu that would support using software like chrome or hondata in order to tune. I think you are suggesting I can simply buy a ecu with more aggressive maps?
i'll search "chipped p28"
thanks

The ECu doesnt necessarily have to have a more agressive map, but a p28 can be chipped (with use of a conversion harness) and tuned from a shop to acheive optimal performance with the parts you are installing. You dont have to find one that is already chipped or tuned, that can all be done on your own terms.

Re: (97Ej6mike)
So I use the ob1 o2 sensors and and harness right up to the ecu, where the conversion harness gets me into the p28? which is tuneable.. my current ecu (p2p or whatever) is not hackable.. Is that it?
thanks-

Nope, OBD2 ecu's cant be chipped or modded.

Re: (97Ej6mike)
thanks for your help.
so the p28 is ob1?
i think i have a plan. i'll get the mini me running and worked out without the stage 1 cam and then in a bit put the stage 1 cower in and move to the p28 and a tune.
my goals are very modest, but i want to get it right. i can use the ob2 o2 sensors?

Technically yes, you can put those parts in your car and have it run ok with the P2P ecu that you have, but if you want to really get the best out of the parts, like i mentioned before, get a p28, have it chipped if it already isnt, and tuned.
4-wire 02 sensors 92-00 are the same thing.
Exceptions being 92-95's 1-wire 02 sensor (cx?) , and the HX/VX 5-wire 02 sensors.
Use the current one(s) you have now. OBD2-OBD1 jumper with a P28 would basically be a plug-n-play type deal for you, no need to modify any of your sensors.
