Default y8 in ek hatch

sup guys just got a 97 ek with a 00 y8 swap..
its running the stock ecu still. Ive got a prob.. the speedo and tach dont work. the previous owner told me i just need a vtec ecu p2p i assume.. and that will fix the problem . But today i noticed when the car is put in reverse the speedo jumps around 30mph -70mph. just idling it jumps while the car is in reverse. You think i have a bad vss and i just need the p2p ecu to control the tach or i got bigger problems. thanks in advance

Did you have any problems with the obd2b motor with your obd2a ecu and harness??? I would think that you would have some problems...

Why why why why why ...... do people come on here, bitching that their car doesn't run right when they don't even bother to run the right ecu?

Step 1: Replace ECU.

TEST

Step 2: If problem persists, repace VSS.

TEST

Step 3: If problem persits, ASK AGAIN

i checked the vss and it looks fine. as for the ecu . for some reason theres a p2t in the 99-00 si . so im not sure if this has a problem to do with my speedo and tach.. i think imma still buy a p2p and sell the p2t cause my redline is too high for a sohc

try and see if your are getting power to the vss or check the ecu for any codes, cause I can put any ecu in my car and the speedo will still work, so I doubt its the ecu but check the wiring on the vss make sure u got power there

REPLACE YOUR ECU.

And just because your VSS works in reverse does not mean it's not fried. They don't usually just QUIT, they just kind of get all wonky.

the p2p ecu is a bitch to install.
they y7 ( your ecu) looks for 190cc injectors, this may be a problem (rich) as if you have a true Y8 in there intake and all you will have 240cc's in there. also you will need a knock sensor wired up, also a pain as you need a shileded grounded wire. Next you must have a 2 wire iacv with the iacv fix. Its all a pain but the car will pull way better. you must have the nasty Y7 intake on there now.
(throttle body straight upword) if so you need;
d16y8 intake
d16y8 or integra injectors
p2p ecu
knock sensor and wiring
d16y8 iac, throttle body, rail and regulator.
everything else i think can be modified changed or extended to work. It just took me 2 weeks to make mine work right. I think it was worth it, wasa smoother.

if got a y8 swap full motor ... i bought the car with the y8 swap in the car i looked at the ecu today and its got a p2t which is a 99-00 si i thought it still had the stock y7 ecu.. Im not really concerned with the tach . but im buying a 99-00 si cluster this week if the speedo doesnt work ill replace the vss and from there ill look into the wiring. But i cant figure out why its not working but when the car is in reverse the speedo starts hoping around

Then go snag a vss from a junkyard or ebay, and then replace that ECU asap. I was running a chipped ecu, and having a problem like you're having ... and I found out why. They forgot to jump J1, so I was running a B18B off a P06 map (d15b7)
