Default Y7 to Y8?

Can I replace a Y7 transmission for a Y8? Im want to figure out because I need a new tranny and someone I know has a Y8. Will I need to replace anything else?
Thanks in advance.

D series parts are interchangeable. Manual trans, just swap and go. Auto will bolt up to, but not sure on the electronics.
