Default Would it be worth it too....

swap out my d16y8 head for an Si head? I have a stock d16 in an EX coupe and I was just thinking about ways to make it fast other than turbo or perhaps just doing a swap. I was planning on doing a swap a while down the road. Would it be worth the money to put on the Si head for now. Or does this project get pretty pricey too? Money's hard to come by with my being a poor college student. I'll need a new ECU probably. Are the Si and EX trannies the same? Or will my tranny suck with this setup? The great wisdom of those who have come before me is requested.

the b16 head wont work. but if you mean the single cam, it will. i dont think its worth it. probably put you in the 16s.

What SI are you talking about?

If you're talking about 99+ Si (DOHC), then no. Not possible.

If you're talking about 92-95 Si (SOHC), then yes. I don't believe you'd see any power gains, though. I think the heads are nearly identical.

D16Y8 - stock 96 EX motor - D series

"Si head" - 99-2000 Si head won't fit, and neither will the transmission. These belong to the B series of Honda Motors.

"Si head" from 92-95 Civic Si IS a SOHC VTEC motor, but should be about the same as the D16Y8 head. I don't know if it'll fit, but I doubt it a great deal.

If you mean the 92-95 Si head then...no.

It would work, but it wouldn't be worth it. They are both SOHC VTEC engines, but the D16Y8 actually makes 2 more horsepower stock, IIRC.

Don't bother.
