Would this cause ECU damage?
I had a fire in my engine bay, it didnt damage any internals but it did melt a few wires/plugs in the engine bay. Could this cause a "short" in my ecu? My car still runs but it runs poorly and then throws a CEL randomly and goes to ****, ive tried every other possible cause so what do you all think?

Is it a honda 02 or cheap auto parts store o2 sensor?
how is the wiring from the o2 to the ecu? maybe there is a bad connection. Was that one of the wires effected by the fire?

its a universal o2, but i had an oem one and it did the exact same thing. Wiring is good and i even moved the o2 to the second bung so it wouldnt get so hot. No difference.

when the wires melted it might have shorted something on the ecu. open the case up and see if any burn marks. Try another ecu from a friend

I opened the case and they're arent any obvious burn marks. I live in bumfuck, md so i dont have anyone i can swap ecu's with. My only option is to buy a new one and hope thats it, so before i do so i want to make sure it COULD BE fried.

I would double check the o2 make sure the is voltage leaving the o2 sensor and make sure there is voltage at the ecu, if there is voltage at at the ecu then it may be the ecu...
A poor connection (must be soldered no wire taps) will cause a o2 code, although it may work in most cases it won't

Re: (HATCHMO92)
The 02 sensor wire is sheilded about half of the length of the wire. If the fire melted the sheild core to the signal wire it woudl short straight to ground causing this code. Id check that before spending money on an ECU.

guess i should have clarified... after the fire the entire harness was replaced with a new one. So there are no longer any melted wires. The shop i took it to said they "thought" the ecu was fried becuase the ECT wasnt putting out proper voltage, but they werent sure. Its night here but ill measure the voltage coming from the white wire tommorrow. What should i do to check the voltage? Warm it up and then check it at idle and then above 4k? What should i be getting?
