Is this worth it?
Ok sorry for posting in the wrong section but I tihnk more ppl go here than the Legend/Forum section... and prolly some mechanics visit this page.
My question is would this be worth it? I can get a new 2.5L Inline5 (G25) engine for my Vigor. It has around 50,000km on it. And I can get the transmission for around $600. These are working engine and transmission.
So are they worth it to get?? Currently my engine has 265,000km on it... so thats why i wanna get a new engine and tranny.
What you guys think?

Who the hell knwos what that Vigor motor is worth?? IMHO, that is the black sheep of the Honda motor corporation. Post it up in the correct forum no matter where gets more traffic. I would pay 1 dollar for that 2.5 inline 5.

do you mean $600 for the motor and tranny?if so,that seems pretty inexpensive.
but,if you're only replacing with the same engine(no performance to be gained),the much lower mileage doesn't necesarily mean a better condition engine.i'd try to inspect it first-maybe a compression or leakdown test.if that engine was beat on,it could very well be in worse shape than a well cared for 250K miles engine.

hmmm,i dunno...i'd see how much a basic rebuild for your motor would cost and compare.you'd then have a basically brand new motor.as for the tranny,if maintained well,it should have an indefinate life..
unless either are showing any signs of needing replacement/rebuild,i wouldn't mess with them.

well nothing is really wrong but the engine just has lots of km's on it and at 300,000 its gonna have lost lots of power.
well these engines arent rebuilt i think, they are just brought from Japan because there is a law in Japan that states you can't have lots of mileage on a car.
