Will a H22a work in DX/CX/LX civic??
I need some serious help. I an buying a 1994 DX Civic coupe and want to put a H22a motor in it. I have never done a motor swap before. A lot of people are telling me that this is very hard to do but I really want to do it. I need some serious help from someone who knows their stuff!

H22 swaps are definatly not for the first time swaper, if you want it done right get a well know shop to do it, otherwise do a B series swap, its alot easier and beter for a first timer, and also look in the sticky, they have almost everything you would want to know and do to your car, espescially(sp) engine swaps, or check out the hybrid area, they have a lot of H22 swap info there

Never done it, but all I've read indicates that it can be done, just a little more challenging. Up to you to determine your skill level, either you're in over your head or you're about to learn something.

There are enough write ups out there that the H swap isn't much harder than a B. Slightly bigger, the shift linkage conversion, and getting all the parts you'll need.

An h22 swap is harder than D and B swaps - but very far from a HARD swap.
If you have a car you can drive while you do the swap I'd say go for it. If not, i wouldn't.
Just take your time, go through it piece by piece, and you'll find it's a really good learning experience. H22's are fun .
If you don't have another car to drive I wouldn't recommend it as if you've never done a swap before and nobody's helping you and if you want to do things right it can take some time. And if you're doing it in a driveway or garage instead of a shop or something w/ a lift and engine hoist etc. it can take longer.
The only thing I can recommend is that you study H22 swaps and KNOW what you're getting into FINANCIAL wise. The H22's not too expensive, but its usually the side pieces like the mounts that start pumping up the cost.
Don't buy from Hmotors.com either - buy it locally. 2k for an h22 is stupid as **** (plus that's w/o shipping). You can probably pick up a totaled prelude for like 500.

You don't agree that someone who is not mechanically inclined and has never done a motor swap should pay someone else to do their swap?
Ok, I hope you're on call to help this kid every step of the way through his engine swap, through every wire, sensor, cut, solder, frame notch, axle selection, and every other problem he's going to post every fifteen minutes for a week straight.

Hard is relative. I'm far more likely to be able to put an LS1 in a civic than my mother is to put a D16 into a civic. If this guy doesn't know what he's doing, then he probably shouldn't do it.

No. You have to change mounts, custom wiring, etc.

No, that is not true. Its been an ongoing myth for years. There is such a large selection in suspension products with custom valving and spring rates that you can make it handle however you want. Plus the H-series is only 40lbs more than a b-series.
