Will a d16z6 head fit on a d16y7 block?
I bought this head for cheap and used the intake manifold for my boost. I considered building this head for vtec in my LX but I heard from a little bee that it will not fit. I thought most every part on the d16 series was interchangable. Am I wrong on this? I knew that the z6 has a round chamber as to my oval with the y7, This maybe stupid but does that mean that the pistons are oval too? Anyway some knowledgable info would be very helpful. Thanks

I heard it will, only thing needs to be changed is the distributor (OBD 2 - 1 thing)
how valid this info was...I am not shure, but let me know if you go through with it I am interested in results

I just did it last week. Everything bolts up(even distributor). I used y8 head gasket and the y7 timing belt.

So, am I correct that this will lower my compression alittle also? The oval cumbustion chambert is what made the compression higher in the y7, correct? So after doing this swap what will be the differences in compression? Are we talking about a whole # difference or a .2 difference?

if you know the dimension- which you can find somewhere, just search...all the formulas to find compression ratio are in the last issue of SCC. Dave Coleman explains it all in there. You'll be satsified with that new head running boost!!!
