i don't think it'll plug and play unless you have a harness.

it will not plug and play. you will need a conversion harness.

JDM ecus have plugs like 96-99 civics do, that OBD2 v1 thing.

LOL, you'll get used to the avatar

Yeah, 96-99 is ODBIIa or some say OBDIIv1
99-00 is OBDIIb or some say OBDIIv2 or OBD2.1

no no no no....you dont need a converion harness...

but there is an issue with the version of obd2b.....some parameters and sensor run a little different....

but personally i dont think it will be an issue...because your going backwards in technology in a way....obd2a will probably run it and not even know the difference

check the pic off hondata, even though the plugs used are the left side ones, there are the same plugs, but the connections at the ecu side may be an issue...more research is needed..

obd2b ecu top
obd2a ecu right below it

obd2v1 and obd2v2 plugs ARE different. a 98 civic ex ecu won't work on a 99 civic ex and vice-versa. the wiring is different.

yes you need to research this more because you NEED a conversion harness to use a 96-98 ecu in a 99-00 car.

The JDM CTR and ITR ecus will plug and play into a 96-98. You need a conversion harness to use a JDM CTR and ITR ecu in a 99-00.

Even look at your picture and tell me how you wont need a harness seeing as how only 2 plugs are the same between versions. And if you actually had a wiring diagram you would see that everything is pinned different too.

Research.

hi. thanks for all the info. to end the thread, 96-98 civic some parts won't fit or work on a 99-00 civic. thanks again for the responses...
