Why is my oil light dimmly lit?
Finally started my project B18 LS last night (took forever to get the timing correctly set)...unfortunately, the cluster oil light stays dimmly lit.
I am running an oil filter relocation setup(which does have oil @ the filter)...
And a -3AN line from the pressure switch port, to a Tee for pressure and stock switch.
(too bad I didnt wire the gauge correctly, because it pegs out when the key points to "on"...but not when on "acc" oddly enough).
Only for reference...everyone loves pictures (some people only look if there is one )
I just have to rewire it someday....
Anyways, ideas on my dim oil light?
I am the last person to know anything about electrical, but I do have this really annoying electrical draw (battery keeps draining out)...could that have anything to do with it?

Did you check the connection at the sender to make sure everything's clean and there's no possibility of shorting out? Maybe vibration or something knocked something loose to the point that it's barely touching a terminal and sending a weak little signal to the gauge cluster.

the oil pressure sensor grounds through the body of the sensor itself, so if you have it relocated make sure teflon tape or whatever sealant your using does not completely cover the threads, and the anodizing on AN fittings will also act as an insulator

Are you running a fram filter by anychance? Theres a bad batch going around. But either way what i would do is change your filter and see if that helps. If your getting oil to the filter and thats it then that atleast tells you oil is pushing through.

Seriously??
Yes, I am running a fram filter. Its the only kind I can get anymore around here (other than ac delco)
I just noticed that the filter makes this gurgling sound, like oil is struggling through.
If its the damn filter I'll be mad...
Thank you for the heads up.
That would explain why theres no oil to the head, correct?

Yea i hate to say it but theres been alot of these lately. When my car was up and running i loved Fram (im still stocked with some filters now even). But ive been hearing about this more and more. It even happened to my friends DSM (so its just not the honda filter) But his a lazy *** to work on his car so i cant give 100% about his car but im 99.9% sure thats his problem for no filter. When we change his filter i hope to cut open the fram and see what the hell is going on in there. But yes thats why oil isnt traveling to the head.
This problem also happened with K&N's filter. Only filter i have heard this not happening is OEM or mobil 1. Want my opinion, go OEM.

Wonderful (good to know, shitty hassle)
I am running a fram ph3614, which is the size for DSMs, so that makes even more sense (matching your friend).
Guess Im going to the parts store...

Well, it was a combination of filter relocation and fram filter.
I swapped the fram, and got oil to the head. Some....
removed the relocation crap, got the right amount.
Unfortunately, it scarred my damn cams and rockers.

They wont do anything about it.
They'll just say there was no proof it was the filter's fault since there is no real documentation.
I will just have to have the cams resurfaced and replace the rockers w/ junk yard parts
