Default where should i start

ok i want to gain more horsepower .. or maybe juste regain my horsepower .. cause my friend has a 94 civc cx and it has more kick than mine .. he's stock .. i only got a short ram air intake .. now what im wondering is what can i do now what are my options i can spend too much .. but like are there good upgrades .. or maybe juste something else that can regain or get more hp outta my civic .. i know i could do a like h22a swap b18c5 swap .. but for now thats too much money .. anywase any kind of ideas could help .. im kinda new to this so this might sound bad lol

well maybe if you do a tune up you might get back whatever horsepower you have lost.
