Default What'd I break? Tranny/Diff Question.

So yeah. the east coast got a nice two feet of snow this weekend.

Is that gonna keep me inside? Hell no...

My Civic is my only car for the moment... is that gonna keep me in my driveway? Hell No...

The plow trucks couldn't keep up with the snow on the highways, much less than teh side roads... Did that stop me from doing anything? Again... Hell No...

Unfortunately, in getting the car unstuck several times, I powered through deep snow. I know the stock differential is a peg leg, and I know spinning one wheel isn't so good for it. So I DID let it cool down for 15-20 minutes after every few minutes of spinning. What I noticed though, when it was heated up, after about five minutes of on and off spinning was that it was hard to shift. The shifter felt tighter (IE Less play) too. When it cooled down, it felt normal again...

Did I break something, or is this normal?

I checked the tranny oil last oil change. (I'm due for one about now.) It was a bit overfull, where I usually put it. (I jack the passenger side of the car up to add tranny oil, thereby adding an extra couple of ounces.)
