What is your water temp while running? When does your fan kick on?
I am espicially interested in those with autometer aftermarket electric gauges.
That is what I'm running and it lingers between 210 and 225. Fan Kicks on at about 225 to 230. Isn't that pretty hot?
Anyone with an aftermarket gauge is welcome to respond.
Thanks

Anything over 222 degrees should be a little concerning...
My coolant temps are like 190-200degrees except when I really romp on my car.

totally fine. boiling point of water is 210 degrees. that goes up when mixed with engine coolant. and the boiling point increases with pressure. which is why you have a pressurized rad. cap. 14 psi. and it goes up 3 degrees for each psi. sorry i dont know why i know this but i figure people would think its cool to know. you coolant will still do its job fine. thats why you thermostat doesnt even open till like 180 degrees. the engine isnt even warm till then. well not to normal operating temp anyway. anyway sorry about the science lesson but im kinda bored. lol

The factory fan is supposed to turn on once the car has reached normal operating temperature. I wouldn't be too concerned if the fan is coming on, unless it is on all the time.

Actually..... The boiling point of pure water is not 210...its 212*F
However, its not pure water in the cooling system...its mixed with glycol, which is closer to 225*F
The fact that the system is pressurized further raises the boiling temperature nearly 50 degrees more
This is all beside the point... You are running quite hot!

i would be concerned if it was creeping past 220 at all.... too much heat will warp things. my b16 runs 185 to 200 all conditions except when on it through 4th at the track.

Re: (3lo)
easy to change. Takes 20 to 30 minutes. It's cheap. 30 bucks if you pay full price from honda. I would recommend getting the honda thermo.

Thermostant changes are easy just did one on my 93, got one plus new gasket from dealership for about 18 bucks, easyest thermostat change Iv ever done gotta love honda. I'd be sure to get genuine I had to go throught 2 different ones from autozone before I decided to get a genuine one. Autozone sucks. Never bought somthin from them that works right excpet oil.

is there a way to position a car so i dont need to drain coolant while changing thermostat?
its ugly weather in canada, dont want to stay outside for more than 30 min.
(my driveway is on an angle)
