What voids the warranty?
My buddy owns a 2000 civic SI and he wants to put intake/exhaust. Will this void his manufacturers warranty? ANd if he was gonna take the car in for servicing should he put the stock air intake back in? or can he keep the new air intake, same with exhaust?

I hate that...
Any mod to the engine will void the warranty. If he needs to bring it back in, he needs to take all the aftermarket **** off.

I believe it only voids the warranty if it's proven that the modification is the cause of the problem.
And you should have no problem servicing your car with i/h/e....I've done it....they just won't replace ur air filter

SOmeone I talked to had their warranty voided for an exhaust. THat was all that wasn't stock. Some people even hold off on modding until the warranty expires. That's the safest thing to do, but it'd eventually get to you...

if you got bolt-ons i would just put everything back the way it was when i turn it in for service. although when my car had its warranty i took it in for work and i had i/h/e along with others and they still took it in with no problems. had to get my MAP sensor replaced.

Don't trust the dealership. They look to void warranties. They make money on non-warranty work. There is barely any profit on warranty work.

ok, i'm a SERVICE ADVISOR at a honda dealership. you may encounter some advisors that will say your warranty is void if you have so much as drop-in K&N air filter on the car. my job as an advisor is to HELP people. i will cover anything under warranty that i can and i know that my co-workers feel the same way. you shouldn't feel that you can't trust the dealer. i understand that maybe the dealership in your area may not be the most helpful but if you look around you should be able to find an advisor that you feel you can trust to take care of your honda. here on OAHU we have 3 honda dealerships all owned by different people. the one i work for has the HIGHEST TSI rating in the district and customers come from all over the island just to have us service their car. just wanted to let you guys know that taking your HONDA to see FACTORY TRAINED technicians is not the worst thing you could do.

i heard any bolt ons wont void the warranty. only things like changing compression/internals or forced induction.
at the worst. you put intake on and engine explodes. reinstall the stock air box.
before you take it to the dealer
hehe.

There are just the bad apples out there.
Seems my local dealership has great salesmen but a crew of bad apples in service. I do not go there at all.

my dealer in town..said *most mods. wont void ur warranty unless..it can be proven by the dealer that the mod. directly contributed to the breakdown*..meaning..the dealer get reimbursed for warranty repairs from honda and they have to return the defective part to honda..if the defective part shows wear contributed by the mod..then they will have proven the mod. contributed to the breakdown..hope that make sense
