what does it take to put a 99 si in 12s
just wondering how much hp's and tq's is it gonna take to make a 99 si to do 12sec passes? is it possible with my setup
my set up--
ls/vtec,
B18A block
stock B18A LS rods shot peenied
stock B18A pistons
Arp rod bolts
B16 head bolts
stock 93 B16A SiR2 head
stock vavletrain
comectics boost head gasket
STR block guard
GSR oil pump, water pump and timing belt
STR feul rail
SX Performance regulator
also got nuespeed springs
skunk2 cambers
Nitto 555R drag on Si wheels
Y21 LSD in a 99 si tranny
waiting to get a hondata to put my drag 3 kit on with Greddy type 24 IC and 440 RC injectors{hondata ain't cheap for obd2 cars}
to control boost i got a Apexi AVC-R
i am prolly going to get it tuned at RaVer Motorsport in Visalia
how much boost should i shoot for when i got to get it tuned?

Re: what does it take to put a 99 si in 12s (EAZY)
230 WHP put me 107mph in the 1/4. almost 80 in the 1/8th. traction shoulda put the car mid low 12's. that was 6 psi on a 9:1 engine. and that was also full audio in the trunk.

man, thats the basically the same setup imma run(lsvtec) but mines will be in a hatch that weighs about 2200lbs with me in it...
on slicks and tuned i'll prolly tip 12s...
a diet is the key
heres my setup
b18a w\ctr pistons
b16a head PnP by LDL
itr dual valve springs
skunk2 stage 1
ITR manifold(soon)
gsr oil pump\water pump\t-belt

Re: what does it take to put a 99 si in 12s (boostedcivicsir)
boostedcivicsir: 6 psi on a 9:1 engine, with tractions you wouldve hit mid to low 12s damn thats good
dohctorthrust: ? B18A with CTR pistons. is it an daily driven motor, isn't that kinda high for daily driven?
civicrights: you said get some real slicks, you talking bout wrinkle walls right, do they come in sizes to fit 15" Si rims?
Anybody know a good shop around the bay or valley in cali where i can get it tuned?

Re: what does it take to put a 99 si in 12s (DaBuccaneerFan2)
how many times did you blow up your motor?
unless it's BUILT...
go on a diet and get some nice set of cams(better valvetrain, pistons, PnP, TB, IM, etc, etc...)
and lotta powa w/no traction =
good luck

LMFAO, he said passES. With this setup I believe one pass is all you would be getting.

Re: what does it take to put a 99 si in 12s (yayaRl337)
EASY the b18a with CTR's will be in the ball park of 12.1 to 12.5 depending on head gasket and milling
with mines its prolly gonna be around 12.3 or 12.4(my head is milled).... running 12.0 CR is still safe on pump gas...the guys on clubsi.com\naForum all do it...tunning is key!
if ctr's are too hihg of a compression for you try the jdm ITR pistons... then get some skunk 2 stage II's with it... agressive cams are the way to go with all motor cars... if not skunk's get some cams that are just as aggressive.

with mines its prolly gonna be around 12.3 or 12.4(my head is milled).... running 12.0 CR is still safe on pump gas...the guys on clubsi.com\naForum all do it...tunning is key!
if ctr's are too hihg of a compression for you try the jdm ITR pistons... then get some skunk 2 stage II's with it... agressive cams are the way to go with all motor cars... if not skunk's get some cams that are just as aggressive.
here is a link to a cam guide-clubsi.com\na forum

my set up--
ls/vtec,
B18A block
stock B18A LS rods shot peenied
stock B18A pistons
Arp rod bolts
B16 head bolts
stock 93 B16A SiR2 head
stock vavletrain
comectics boost head gasket
STR block guard
GSR oil pump, water pump and timing belt

quick ls/vtec question i thought b16 head bolts were too short and you needed gsr headbolts, i am building an ls/vtec and have passed up on brand new b16 arp headbolts beacause i was told they were too short and have been waiting for gsr headbolts. so do b16 headbolts fit?

my fitted, i use the same head bolts that was of the b16, but be carefull when you torque down the b16 head bolts, i broke one ofthe thread on the block by accidently over torqueing it and had to put heli coil in it, i guess the thread broke because the b16 head bolts is shorter
