headstuds and rodbolts necessary?
I am sending my block to the machine shop this week because i broke some ringlands and need to get this thing back on the street. My question is; is it necessary for me to use ARP headstuds and rodbolts if I am not going to be breaking 300 horsepower. Also should I go with a cometic headgasket or just a new Honda gasket. The build is for a 99 Si by the way... thanks Robert

I'd say yes to all. I ran my '99 Si B16A2 at 355-408 WHP for most of the last year with ARP head studs, ARP rod bolts (in Eagle rods), and Cometic head gasket (the HP gasket, the regular Cometic only lasted a week or so on 20+ PSI of boost) and it ran well. I recently got it rebuilt (boost controller accident melted the pistons) and we saw that the main caps had been shifting a bit, so it also got a new set of ARP main cap studs. No problems with it so far.

Also im planning on using srp 9:6:1 compression pistons on stock rods because i dont have the funds for rods right now... will the rods hold up??? I have heard 300 is the max safe on stock rods

I'd wait until I saved up for some rods, it's only $250 more for a set of Eagles. I'd also avoid the SRP's too in favor of regular JE's, Wiseco's, or CP's.
Also, let me know what your budget is, I'll be selling my motor next week after I get my new Dart-block motor in the car. It's a sleeved, RLZ-built B16A2 out of a '99 Civic Si with 2000 miles on it. I was going to sell my whole setup, but it looks like I may have to part it out. It's probably a bit more than you are looking for, but if you're planning on dropping some serious $ to get your engine rebuilt, then it could be a good deal for both of us.

Yeah I would wait but its my only car and with it being down its kind of a pain in the *** so I am trying to just get what I can and get it back together at least better than it was... I think that everything should be ok at about 275 with a good tune im not looking to build anything ridiculous for a daily.
