What are the consequenses?
I recently replaced my D16Y7 exhaust manifold with an aftermarket header. As of right now, I don't have a cat. I do have one, but haven't installed it yet. I couldn't remove the old O2 sensor from the stock cat, so right now I don't have it even connected to the wiring harness. What can happen if I continue to drive my car like that? I am going to put a new cat, but not sure when, 'cause I have to get a new O2 sensor or find a way to remove the old one from the stock cat. Any help will be appreciated.

I know the check engine light will be on, but I have driven my car for a couple of miles and I haven't noticed any problems other than the CEL.

The Secondary O2 sensor has absolutely nothing to do with fuel curves. It is only a monitor to check if the cat is working and present.
Your check engine light will be on because you have no cat. If you need to get the old O2 sensor out of the cat, grab a torch. Heat the hell out of the bung and the part of the cat surrounding the O2 sensor. The O2 sensor should come out like butter. Dont heat the O2 sensor. Just like other situations in real life, you are trying to spread the FEMALE part of the connection, not the male one.

LOL, yeah just DON'T use the torch on that situation hahahahaha
You may have to get the bung cherry red before it will budge, so don't be surprised or worried if it comes to that...also try to use an o2 sensor socket as opposed to an open end wrench it well lessen the chances of rounding the edges...absolutely do NOT use a crescent wrench, that is a sure fire way to **** yourself over.

Re: (freeagent)
if you know how to solder, and it comes down to it, try to find a 22mm wrench that has a 6 point box side. Or if you haven't rounded it off allready, use the box side from even a 12point wrench.
Cut off the connector.
Put a box wrench on the sensor.
Solder the connector back on.
Or buy a new O2 sensor. I got mine for $25 on sparkplugs.com.

Yes, I have been using the O2 sensor socket, but still won't come out.

Nah, he's talking about the secondary O2 sensor (the one in the catalytic converter).
It just monitors your emissions and throws a CEL if the cat isn't doing its job.
What will happen if you leave it out? You'll get a check engine light - nothing else, no lower mpg, no running rich, no running lean, no endangering your motor.
That sensor (the secondary) only MONITORS your car's emissions - it has no control over the fuel adjustments like the primary does.
