Default What car is this from? p24-5 head code

My head says P24-5, with "95" on the right front of the head.

I am starting to think this is the reason the car is throwing codes (map, iacv, etc).

The block is def a d16y7, if the whole motor was d16y7, shouldnt the throttle body be vertical? Mine is horizontal...

ALSO, there are a SHITLOAD of random wires and clips hanging in the bay, most coming out of the injector harness. I will try and get pics up later today, maybe you guys can help me out.

Here's some pics for reference.

As it turns out, the kid who I bought the car from is running it off a p75 obd2 integra LS ecu.

I have some check engine codes, MAP, IACV, FTPS, and secondary o2 sensor.

Heres my setup, lemme know if you think something is wrong.

D16y7 engine (DX), p24-5 head (no idea what motor it's from, UK?), p75 ecu (obd2 integra LS), and the intake manifold may be different also (Y8?), cuz I think the stock DX mani/TB is vertical. Pretty sure the header is off a EX too, could be wrong tho.

I checked and cleaned the IACV, it's a 3-wire. I read that if you are using the p75 integra LS ecu, you have to convert to a y8 manifold (looks like mine) and convert to a 2-wire iacv or else it will throw a code? HELPPPPPPP

Heres a pic of the motor/head/mani.

Take a look at all these dangling clips and ****.

This one looks like a wire was pulled out of the dizzy harness, the clip to the right is also from the same harness, and the clip to the left appears to be from the fuel injector harness, which is also routed to the MAP and IACV (both hooked up and cleaned, but still throwing codes).

Another shot of the clip to the left, seems to be connected to what look like the MAP sensor (back of throttle body? there are 2 sensors that look identical and one sits on top of the throttle body... assuming one is MAP and one is TPS? which is which?)

Here is another one that completely baffles me. Pic taken from under the car, the plastic bar is the injector harness (?) and these 2 big clunky clips are dangling.

Is there a FITV on 96 Civic DX? Or just IACV...

I had an integra LS (non-vtec) ecu that ran the engine fine, but threw like 4 different CEL codes and also made the rpm's wander sometimes.

NOW, I installed the sotck DX ecu p2e, and I only have ONE CEL, code 14 IACV.

took IACV off and cleaned it out, but it is still throwing the code.

The motor actually ran and idled somewhat normal with the integra LS ecu. But NOW when I start the car, it wont idle AT ALL, it IMMEDIATELY dies unless I give it gas.

If I give it gas, the rpm's fluctuate between 1500-2500 up and down like it is in limbo.

I AM able to rev past that, it's just pointless because the car dies when the rpm's drop back down..

d16y7 block
p24-5 head (?)
appears to be a y8 intake manifold, the throttle body is on the side instead of the usual DX vertical TB.

Help?

My best guess is that you do have a Y8 head, the closest head I can find is P2J-2 95. According to this tech thread it came off of a 96 automatic.

I think i have a hunch.

The intake manifold is obviously not from a y7, because the throttle body is mounted on the side.

Also, the IACV is a 2-wire, which also indicates that either a) the connector was modified, or b) the entire harness was swapped over from another car.

Can ANYBODY tell me how to IDENTIFY the wire harness? Or how to IDENTIFY the throttle body?

Again, I got the car like this and it sucks. I replaced the LS integra ecu with a stock 96 DX p2e ecu and all other codes have gone away, except for this damn IACV code.

If you look in the second pic, you can see that there are RANDOM clips that are not connected to anything nor can be. They look like IACV clips, but ther IACV is already plugged in. This is what leads me to believe the harness was swapped over.

helpppp

Also, if the IACV is functioning properly, what should happen when I unplug the connector?

I will take lots of pics tomorrow and go into more detail.

the two step thing is from the iacv cel, it looks like you iac and map are unplugged, the head---pull the valve cover off and take a picture of the cam. then show us a picture of the distributor so we can see the bolt pattern and plug style.

the valve cover show only fits d15z1, d16z6 and all obd2 single cams, however if the dist has 2 plugs it will show us that the head is obd1 but 1 plug will be obd2, popping the valve cover off will show us if it is a vtec head or not.

are you sure it's not a P2A-5 because that's a y7 head, which is what i am sure you have.

the "95" is the production year i believe. you're production date (if the motor is original to the car) should be 6/95 or later. this can be found on the white tag in the driver's side door jam.
