Weird vtec activation!!! help!!

Default Weird vtec activation!!! help!!

Alright guys i just did my mini me not too long ago and since i did it i havent had vtec. everything was done right, and wireing is done right we double checked...i tried 3 different sylinoids and didnt work, switched to another chipped p28 the chip is for a dual cam with has more fuel because i had really bad detonation.....now heres the weird part...... with this chipped ecu, vtec dont kick when its cold, it done kick at normal temp.....but inbetween hot and cold only in 2nd gear vtec will kick in at 6500 rpms.....????? confuseing the hell outta me.....any suggestions? i have just done an oil change and im running 10w30 synthetic.....i do have a dent in my oil pan but not sure if thats its....my motors is a b7 block with a y8 head running a dx dizzy.....any help would be apreciated thanks

Vtec is not suppose to engage untill it is warm.

duh.....thats why i dont understand why it only works in between warm and cold and why only 2nd gear? and why at 6500rpms?

Yep, you figured it out. Those damn little dents in the oil pan really mess with your vtec crossover point.

You do realize that your running a non-vtec distributor with a vtec head, right. Also why would you run map of a DOHC when your running a SOHC and do you even know if the map was done right?

wow are you guyz serious? the dizzy has nothing to do with it lol thats what the shop uses on the head swap it wont make vtec engauge.....now the dual cam chip....probly but the only reason im running the dual cam chip is because i need more fuel going in there so i can get rid of detonation......

why are you detonating? you cant just keep adding fuel and no air. Either way the setup sounds like its hacked together and no matter what, there is NO reason why you should be running a map that is for a completely different motor. If you went through the hassle of getting the ECU chipped, why not just chip it for your setup and maybe add some fuel if really need be for the motor you actually using?

cuz the shop i bought it at already had it chipped for a b20 i just havent taken the time to buy a new map

With all this time you've been replying back. Look for a virgin p28 or get your car tuned Vtec wont engage until you get up to operating temp.

yes b20vtec and it did this came thing with 2 virgin p28s, it only hits vtec when cold in 2nd gear
