Weird rough idle problem! Help plz!
Hi
I've spent quite some time searching the entire forum about a similar problem, but i've never found a description matching my case!
So here's the deal: (the car is a Civic HB LSi EG4 1.5L 90hp D15B2 DPFI 92-95 model)
At cold, the car starts just fine! It revs at 1200-1500rpm! The first symptons can be seen at cold: when i approach a stop, for example, and press the clutch pedal (and breaking at the same time), the engine idles at 700/800rpm, causing it to stutter a bit (since it should rev at 1000/1200 at least while it is cold)!
After warmed up, in almost every ocasion the engine is aiding the car to brake - mostly, going down a hill, gear engaged, throttle closed, possibly breaking at the same time - if i press the clutch pedal, it revs until the first mark and dies Usually, since i got used to this, i change gear, depress clutch and the engine starts again...
This ONLY happens when downshifting (throttle closed) approaching a stop or something...i already tried this while upshifting - accelerate, press clutch pedal, keep the clutch pressed without touching the throttle - and it revs regularly at 800/850!
The last symptom: after warming up, if i have to make a 10/20min stop, when i come back and start the engine (i always hear the fuel pump working), it revs up and immediately drops and usually it dies! Most of the times, i have to give some gas after it starts, not allowing it to drop the idle, and after pressing the throttle 3 or 4 times, it idles fine at 800/850 (nevertheless, the problem described above continues on road)!
I don't feel any power loss or anything...it's just this damn pain in the ***
This is the list of parts/procedures done already:
- base idle is fine
- EACV was replaced
- stock Throttle Body was replaced by another one (the problem got worse)
- every adjacent part attached to TB were changed along with the TB itself
- injectors were also replaced
- all vacuum lines were eye-inspected (seemed fine)
- the MAP sensor was NOT replaced
- the PCV valve clicks on hose pinching
- gas mileage is perfect
General maintenance is up to date (fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, etc)!
The problem started more than a year ago...i even thought it could have been a mistuned valve clearance! But it never got any better with time...It is particular bad after warming up and stopped for 10/20 minutes :S Almost impossible to drive!
The mechanic himself told me he has no memory of such a problem with Hondas
Can anybody give me a possible clue of what might be happening here? I'm completely lost...i've checked the diagnose charts from the workshop manual thousands of times...i'm stucked And i suspect the mechanic will also be in a short while
I appreciate any given help Thanks in advance

Re: Weird rough idle problem! Help plz! (Bulldozer)
Have looked at the main relay, (under left side of dash to the right behind the fuse panel) it looks like a grey box w/orange backing and a plug. I had similar problems, especially with high milege. some times if you remove the grey part of box and let the orange plug and resistor hang it will be fine. If you have a way to swap one out with a friend to test it. try it.....
