I have a 93 honda civic cx with a D16Z6 with a tranny from a D15 and in first when i redline at 7300 i am going 55mph and in second i redline at 7500 and i am going 93mph. I don't know whats up but i think that something is up. but in third it takes forever for me to reach vtech. so i am thinking about putting a 50shot of nitrous to make up the lag in rpms and a stage 3 instead of the factory oem clutch.

wtf? am i understanding you correctly? you're going 93mph in 2nd? with a d16? how do you even get up to 93mph with a weak motor and that kinda gearing? wtf trans are you using exactly? the cx trans?

just some long *** gears... i have a stock d15 and redline is like 5500

1'st -37mph
2'nd- 68mph
3'rd-110mph
4'th- like 140mph
5'th- like 170-180ish

Ive never been this fast. ONLY reason i have some kind of idea is because at my old job we had no customers for like 3 hours so thats when trouble starts.... long story short went through my gears with my car on a lift all the way through 5'th... the funny thing is that i just let them spin when i took it out of gear the wheels spun for like 5-10 mins cause i didnt want to hit the breaks at that kind of speed.

with my d15 tranny i got these revs/speeds

1st gear 6800rpm/33
2nd gear 6800rpm/63
3rd gear 6800rpm/90 or so
4th gear 6800rpm/120 or so
5th gear ????rpm/????speed just a crusing gear


i have no clue how you got that fast in 2nd gear. that engine mus of been screaming being in second going that fast. good luck hope you figure out why, but are you sure you wernt in third?

i just laughed out loud. get rid of that **** tranny, and get a Z6 or Y8 tranny. if you plan on replacing the clutch anyways then you have to pull the tranny. so just do it. you can get a tranny for under $200. learn what is going on before you spray on it and blow your engine.

ok dude i got the same problem that you have but my car
1st gear= 45
2nd=85
3rd=130+
thats as fast as i want to go in a cx. but the reason for the speeds that your going are because the dx tranny that you got in there is geared for the d15z8 or the d15z3 or something like that. thats y your going those speeds. the tranny is for the 1.5 motors. but you need to get that z8 trans or youll be like me and changing the clutch alot. but it woorks good for makeing money by betting your friends that itll go that fast in a gear. but hope tha i have helped you. and if i doesnt make since then ill try to explain it to you some way better

you have a hf tranny i had a fully built single myself at once with a redline of 9k and i use to be able to drop 2nd gear on the highway doing 70mph to race people with no issues. that why i know you have a hf tranny or hx tranny

This guy most likely has a cx tranny. My 4D LX tranny goes like this
redlining at 6800 rpm:

1st 34 mph
2nd 57 mph
3rd ~85 mph
4th ~115 mph
5th who cares??

My tranny is pretty short and most people don't believe me until I take them for a ride. Freak tranny

like posted above you just have some long *** gears.

I had a $40 vx tranny, probly the same as a cx and would drop 2nd on the freeway, stupid, yes, but it was still fun cuz it was only 40 bucks and got me by.

you have the cx tranny.... thats what the 'c' stands for commuter. so when your in 5th doing like 70-75 your at like 2g's saving hella gas. it could also stand for crappy. hate my damn motor.

my lx tranny does 3 grand crusing at 75

but everyone else who has the lx tranny seems to have the same redline speeds as me.

OP, get an ex/si tranny then you be set

well it came of the d15 with 8 valves and that small *** intake manifold it is like 2inches in dia. but i raced my friend he has same car same motor with the tranny that is supposed to come with it but he pulls me off the line then when he shift out of first i start pulling him then i hit second and he hits third and i start pulling the **** out of him. but i **** to third and that is when i get to the problem that is why i either need to build motor or spray it .
