Water Temp going up
I have notice latly that my water temp needle is 1/8 from being in the read section. Its not overheating but is this normal. At first i thought it was because it 90 dergee in NJ. but last nite it was cool. i was doing burnouts and my needle whenup again.. WHY?
Next question- do i NEED a coolant flush, i topped off my rad with water last week, i dont want a cold snap to come in septmber and my motor is ruined!

if your talking about the gasket for the thermo, i would replace it. you would hate to do the work and later on down the line it leaks from there. also don't forget to burb the system.

yes burb, when you do anything with coolant (or anything with pressure and fluids for that matter), air is let into the system. so if you don't burb it, you'll still have overheating issues.
basically what you do is, after everything is done and you've already added the coolant, leave the radiator cap off. turn the car on, then add more coolant until you can't, it'll probably overflow alittle, then cap it off and that's it.

Re: Water Temp going up (BLUE EH3)
WTF- i was driving to bar tonight and the needle was in the red, but no white steam came from under hood, i put the heat on and the needle dropped to norm( halfway point). i got to bar and popped the hood, i had a bubble in the upper rad hose going toward the block..... WHAT IS THIS?.. so i came out the bar about 15-20mins later and drove home, i saw one of my honda buddies at the gas station and i told him what happen, he said it sounds i got a bad themostat..WTF. i told him i just replaced it , so we check the fan, thats turned right one t--the ride home the needle stayed at the norm with out the heat one why??

Sounds like air. Try bleeding again and make sure the climate control is set to full hot and is blowing at full blast. Then squeeze the upper and lower radiator hoses a few times while the car is idling with the radiator cap off.

Re: Water Temp going up (BLUE EH3)
did you turn on the heater when you bled the system?
the heat runs off coolant, if you bleed it without the heat on, air will be trapped there and wont go away until you do this.
so...
take off cap, turn on car, turn on heater to max, let run for two fan cycles cap and test

do you check you coolant often? i had this prob in the old dd and i have a small leak that let coolant out so it would do the same thing every once in awhile but not every other day.
when they are saying the fan could be the prob a simple way to check that is when ur car is at NORMAL operating temp let the car idle and listen for it to come on if it doesnt come on for awhile and temp has rose= not good

Make sure your resevoir is full. When your car cools down the cooling system will suck water FROM the resevoir to fill itself back up. Also, before you go out driving, pop the radiator cap and make sure it's full. If not, fill that and your resevoir up. Do that a few times and the air issue should clear itself up.
Also, go buy a new radiator cap. Anytime you change your stat it's a good idea to change the cap out.
