Default water leakage civic

...just curious if anyone has had this problem...this is my second honda civic...both hatchbacks...one was a 1990...this one is a 1998...both have had problems with water leakage. i cannot find where it is coming from (although i have narrowed it down to the driver side), but water accumulates in the trunk. i think it is more than coincidence as my brother and a friend when shopping around for used cars checked out a couple of hondas (non-hatch) and they also had the same problem...has anyone else here had that problem...or fixed such a problem??

a lot of honda have water in the trunk problems...all i can say is what we do in he body shop is take all of the carpet out of the trunk and have someone climb in the trunk with a flashlight while another person sprays the whole car with water not missing any thing around the seals under the car in the fender wells..every where...the person in the trunk should look for water coming in anywhere...even if it is like just dripping in it can add so my addivce would be to do that most of the times it is something little tat can be fixed easliy...hope this helps

I have just found the source of a leak in my boot - the drainage pipe for the sunroof that runs to the rear of the car had become blocked with gunk and had caused the pipe to slowly release the water down the side of the quarter panel... eventually the panel has began to rust (over a long period of time obviously) and the pipe ended up being in the car instead of outside so every time it rained or i washed the car the boot was filling up with water..... car is 1990 reg

Might not be the problem but worth checking - the technique of removing the carpet and some trim and then sitting in the car whilst it was hosed with water was how i discovered my problem

Check your tail light gasket, it could be shot. This seems to be a common problem around here.

Where exactly do you find the drain tube end(s) ?
Thx

when i stripped out the interior trim paneling it was in the bottom left corner on the inner qtr panel - fairly big clear pipe (only checked the passenger side as that was where it was leaking - imagine it would be the same on both side though)
