I have a 2001 Civic Sedan DXG that I've had for 3 years now. Over the past 3 years I have noticed occasional buildup of water under my carpet on the drivers front side only. I have attempted to install a vapor barrier thinking I was being careless in the winter months and dragging in snow etc. I have discovered that in fact the water is not my fault. Even after the vapor barrier was installed I noticed water accumulating both under and on top of the barrier under the carpet. (The barrier is just a piece of plastic). I removed the carpet from the driver's side floor to determine where the water is coming from. I suspect that it is entering through the windshield and through surface tension finding its way down under the dash to the floor. Does anyone have any suggestions? How would I go about determing where the water is realy coming from and how I can fix it without paying heavy labor costs. Now that the car is out of warranty how should I get Honda to replace my carpet and fix the leak if it was a factory issue all along?

windshield wiper tray, maybe coming through the fenderwell in by the door?

when my heater core went bad my carpet was getting real wet but only on the passenger side. dont know if thats your problem too since its only on the drivers side with your car

This is a known problem with some 6th gen Civics and maybe your newer one !
Try an internet search on the subject. Odds are it's comming thru the firewall. Check the air plennum, cable ports etc....
