Default vtec selenoid question..

So I noticed a leak on the selenoid and decided to replace the. Little gaskets got all. The parts and did my research on how , but I noticed some. People use silicone when replacing them and some don't , so my question is , do you have to. Or not , if so what kind or it doesn't matter?

whatever you do, dont use silicone...honda didnt use silicone, and im not really sure why anyone else does. They'll be kicking themselves in the nuts for doing that eventually.
