Check your oil level before you do ANYTHING else - most common cause for code 22 is too low of an oil level for the VTEC pressure switch to pick up.
If the oil level is good, then it's time to worry about that V-AFC install!

Re: vtec pressure valve question (B18C5-EH2)
when i got the car it was at the last mark ont he dipstick then i filled it to the top mark. it runs ok, and vafc confirms that vtec is kicking in where it should

Why run a V-AFC with an Uberdata tune? I ditched my V-AFC when I went with Uberdata - it's redundant.
How long has the car had the V-AFC, and has it ran for a while with no check engine codes?

I was thinking the same thing.
If you have a chipped program, why run a hack?
Either way, listen to B18C5...he aint called the Civic forum legend for nothin!

Re: vtec pressure valve question (B18C5-EH2)
honestly.. i have no idea. it was all in the car when i bought it 2 days ago, i was just trading shells but i ended up throwing in cash with the trade and keeping the engine. its a 92 si hatch, the guy wont respond to my emails about what the ecu is chipped for and if its ever been tunes with the vafc

I would uninstall the V-AFC and solder any of the wires that were cut, then have the ECU rechipped again by a local reputable Uberdata or Crome tuner and start fresh.
Most V-AFCs are not installed right, and over time even the ones that were installed right take a crap anyways. You can always sell it to someone who really wants the "awesome digital read-out" so they can mount it on the dashboard for all to see.
I never had problems with my V-AFc, but it was installed nicely with soldered wires, etc. I unsinstalled it because a guy wanted to buy it, and frienbd installed and tuned Uberdata on a dyno for $100.00 - I couldn't pass it up.
With Uberdata or Crome set-up right you can also have a check engine shift light, drag launch, etc. It's definately better than a piggy back like a V-AFC that's tapped into the wiring, etc.
Just my 2 cents.

Re: vtec pressure valve question (B18C5-EH2)
sounds good, i think this vafc has the jumper harness though so i guess ill just unplug it and sell it for a few hundred and put that money toward another tune
although i dont know whats exactly done to the engine, or the specs of the parts he told me in person but i totally forgot

Jumper harness? You sure it's not tapped into any wires? They all have a harness that unplugs from the actual display/box, but it's usually hacked into the chassis harness at the ECU - I'd completely uninstall it and resotre the factory wiring to eliminate the actual wiring as a source of your code 22.
