Vtec possible ECU prob.
ok here's the deal ......
I have a 95 civic with a b16a(JDM) swap and last night i raced another 95 civic with a b16a(USDM) swap ....... both stock
He walked all over me
After the race i ask him a few questions and he took me for a ride in his civic
his Vtec HIT way HARDER then mine!! Mine Kicked in "Granny" Style. Both Vtec Engagment points are set at the same on both cars 4.800 rpm's!! What could be wrong or happening with my car??
Another question ..... whats the difference between Dual and Single stage Vtec Engagment?
Dual Stage = IAB's?
Please help me out thanks in advance!!!

no vtec huh.... well you can try this just for a short period of time..
get a switch get power from the battery to the switch then switch to the vtec solinoid wire.... manual vtec. get the car to 5gz then flick the switch and see if you can feel a difference. also before you drive the car flick the switch to see if you can hear a click in the solinoid....

SOHC VTEC = more intake
DOHC VTEC = more intake and exhaust

wow as you posted "dual stage vtec" is actually just air intke butterfly. It is only on gsr and h22 it is a dual point or dual runner intake manifold. it just engages shorter runners at around 5200 rpm. Vtec is just "single staged" and only engages once. if you change the intake manifold you will no longer get the "dual stage effect."
make sure vtec is engaging and search there are 100 posts right now about your same problem change your oil and filter and make sure you have enough oil in it. also make sure you have a p30 ecu or another compriable ecu that is chipped and working. good luck

ok first off, if your VTEC point is set correctly it should not "hit" at all. you should hear it not feel it.
The amount of fuel and ignition timing produced by the ECU makes all the difference in the world. A JDM P30 is setup to run your engine perfectly from the factory, pick one up, plug it in and you'll be running the way that honda wanted it to. If you want a little more go with Crome or Uberdata and tune your engine, then it will run better than it ever has.
True dual stage VTEC was produced only in the D15B in japan. It has two VTEC solinoids.
the IABs in the GSR and H22 are a secondary intake runner but are not considered part of the VTEC technology.
as far as being toasted by a 90 hatch without VTEC, so? there are fast everything out there.
