unstable idle
1st - when i first turn the car on after leaving it off long enough to cool down the idle stays at 1500 ... quite high
2nd - when stopped, my idle will go to the set 650
3rd - however, after being stopped for a bit, the idle drops to 500 and the car gets a bit shaky
4th - from outside the car, either #2 or #3 is associated with the engine making a "clunk" sound coupled with an increase in the engine idle noise... sort of like its revving.
I have a tripped o2 sensor heater light and I need a new clutch disk, for the record.
WHAT IS THIS?!
i have a helm's so point me in a direction and i'll get to looking

Re: unstable idle (TheBaron)
TTT
I've recently experienced the same problems (annoying grr especially the shaking, vibrations coming from the engine bay)
Is this associated with resetting the ECU? I recently cleaned by battery terminals and in the process reset the ECU.
Adjusting the idle at the throttle body or by tightening the throttle cable sounds crude.

Re: unstable idle (ckkl)
I dont know if this applys to civics:
First are you throwing any cels? I bet if you are its a 14 or 24 I believe for the IAC. First warm the car up, then pull the 2P harness off the IACV. If the motor stalls or drops around 100 in rpm, your good(IACV), but if you pull the plug and the motor is not bothered, you IACV is at fault.
Take the IAC off, spray the **** out of it with carb cleaner, reinstall, and adjust the fast idle screw under a no load condition meaning turn all the **** off, like ac, lights, radio, ect tect.
If it does not solve the problem, install a new IACV.
Thats all I can think of for now.
Edit: Did you mess with the TPS?
