turbo D16z6 or turbo B18b ls?
I have a 1995 civic 4 door as my project. I am trying to decide which motor I want to go with. My goal is to beat my brothers hatch which his current et is 10.89 with a B16. I want to go a different route, no one around here seems to believe that non vtec can make good power. So thats why I started my current build. All I have is the head done so far is
B18b ls head
Crower Stainless vavles
Crower stage 2 turbo cams
Supertech springs and retainers
Race port and polish done by me at US Chrome Corp of Wi
Valve job and assembly done by Mike Tiry race Engine
I have stuck alot of money in this head, now I am contemplating a D16z6 build due to more accessibility to transmissions. I had a built all motor B18b and went through 2 trannys, 1 stock, 1 built. It gets very hard trying to come across b series trans and when you do you have to practically give them your kidney for it.
I know both motors are capable of making of making the power as long as the money is put into them so any opinions?
P.S. The head listed above is for sale Make an offer if you would like

Probably because your post is not clear.
You say you want to go with a non-VTEC engine to prove a point but your title suggests you are considering a Z6 as a platform?
You post specs on a B18b head and mention that you've already started a build.
Then you mention that you're also selling the head so one might not be clear if this is a For Sale thread in the guise of a thinly veiled tech question.
Then you waffle back to the Z6 because of the availability of transmissions.
Very confusing from an advice standpoint.

there may be more transmissions for the D but the B has way more potential. then again bisimoto made what, 700hp on his D? They have potential too. but not as many aftermarket parts + harder to find (to my knowledge).
and ya.. z6 is vtec.. you said you wanted non-vtec?
