planning on upgrading my vavle train, to skunk2 springs, retainers, clips, etc... do i need to or better yet, should i get my car professionally tuned? I have I/H/E. Also, will this change my cars power curve or redline? sorry for the noobish question, but maybe it can help someone else out.
thanks.

If you have the extra cash dring her to the dyno. But i wouldnt say its nessassary. and like roycivic92 said playing with your timeing can make a big diffrence so go get a timing light or borrow one and make sure shes right on then retard or advance her and c if she runs better.

well thanks jdmtunerchick, i think id rather take it somewhere, because i know nothing about timing and i know if that gets messed up im in for a major headache. i cant even find a tuning shop in orange county.

i wouldnt mess with the timing unless you have a datalogging and wb02. I messed with the timing, advanced it to 16* (12* is stock) and put in 91 octane. Since it wasnt burning the fuel completely, fuel would leak past the rings, and the oil would break down quicker resulting in clogged PCV valves, and blown gaskets.
you would need to up the fuel maps to prevent a lean condition and pre ignition from to high of octane pre igniting on the next stroke, if this makes sence.
You want the correct amount of fuel, with the least octane rating for a complete burn. To low of fuel, and too high octane will run lean and pre ignite, adn the non combusted fuel will leak past the rings.

Ya we dont have a tuner anywhere near us so we trial and error everything. But it works just got to be patient and extreamlly carefull. Also pay attintion to friends mistakes.
