Transmission fluid B series
I'm thinking of changing the transmission fluid, i belive the manual says i need 2,2 liters of fluid.
What i'd like to know is wich fluid is everyone using? I know that the sure bet is the MTF from honda, but i'm leaning towards an aftermarket tranny oil ( it's 1/3 the price as the MTF ftom honda), just not sure of witch viscosity to choose. I don't want to put motor oil in the tranny.

How about something i might have a chance picking up localy?
I haven't seen anyone selling pennzoil here, i'm not in the states.
Any other directions on how to decide wich oil to get?

I've used several different manual transmission oils, mostly high $ synthetics, and once 10-30 motor oil (was at the track and didn't have anything else). They all seem to work the same. Personally I'd stick with the Honda oil, that's what I use now.

Re: (silent-chris)
Looking for more info, wouldn't want to pay 3X more for the MTF.
rmcdaniels, which viscosity were those oils that you used? A dealer said that the 85-90W is full synthetic, but i remember seeing the 75-90W oil wich i would assume is better.

WHen i went to honda to get the MTF, he said "just use 10w30, honestly the only time we sell this is over the counter, the techs just use the motor oil when they do it". I dont think they should put just the 10w30 motor oil in there but, idk if its the same or not?
..............but i went ahead and just got the actual MTF

I have called honda tech line through a dealership and they don't recommend anything other than what it needs so I can't imagine techs using motor oil in a tranny especially at a certified honda dealership.
that should be illegal.
Think of it this way. Is 56.00 dollars or whatever worth knowing that your car is running what Honda Motor Company has spent millions on research and develop for high performance racing.
I would dish out the money since the MTF is good for 30-60,000 miles or whatever KM's that translates into.
Just my 0.02

thats waht im thinkin, im about to call honda up on this, the corprate office. the manual doessay u can use 10w30 but, it says
when convenient, change out with Honda MTF" because it might cause harsher shifting.

I used Royal Purple Syncromax and Amsoil Manual Synchromesh Transmission oil. Both were more expensive than the Honda oil and seemed to work the same.

err, your math is jacked up somewhere. A liter is about the same as a quart. If you're dumping 8 quaets of fluid into your tranny, you're going to have to worry about more expensive things than a few bucks for fluid.

1 quart is 1,136 liters, so 2 quarts are 2,272 liters wich is enough oil for the tranny. But the steelership said they sell it by liter and i would have to buy 3 liters to fill the 2,2 liters up.
Maybe it's sold in quarts here as well, just the dealer doesn't know and i would have enough oil when buying 2 cans? Will have to go back and see for myself.
Still seems expensive. I'd reather put something else in there, because i'm lacking the belive that they developed something hyper special, when it's used across the board in many different honda trannys.
